So. I wasn't expecting to write an entry for this con at all but this absolutely must be shared.

So, Friday night ~XNeverConformX and I went down to the con to put up posters to advertise our panel that would be held early Saturday morning. It ended up being a waste of time because the hotel was all "BLARGH! U CAN'T PUT DIS UP IN NYA". So, we stuck around the con for a bit to hang with some friends of ours before heading home.

Also. Our panel was misspelled in the schedule. 'Hentalia Axis Powers' <-- this actually was posted up on the APH anonmeme. "Is this some sort of Hentai panel at noon!?" Haa... anyway..

Saturday came along. We showed up around 9am. Panel at 11am. It went quite well. We played a mini flag game near the end and had candy as prizes. =3=

I played some video games, wandered the dealers room, ate, did the usual hanging out with friends thing until I had to head out to the greenroom. I was a judge along with two others. They were awesome people. We had epic laughs when we were deciding who gets what award which we awarded ten of. We got out around 7pm which was a decent time. Another friend and I had to bus back to my place, pick up another costume of mine then come back.

This took nearly three hours to do.

We were expecting to return to the con to join up with our friends. Go to the dance. Have fun. Play some games. Go to the yaoi panel. All that typical all-nighter stuff at cons. However, what we weren't expecting, when we got back to the hotel/convention, was the entire con being escorted out of the con by the police. This soon followed up with three ambulances showing up and people beginning to pass out/getting nauseous/ and just overall not well at all in the driveway in front of and in the hotel. Everything was a ruckus.

A girl had been puking up blood leaving a trial of it up the stairs. A good handful of people were getting sick and being checked.
People in the hotel who weren't there for the con were all called up to not panic. The con was shut down for the rest of the weekend.

Six people had to go to the hospital by ambulance. All of whom were pretty much friends of mine We're all friends. Everyone knows eachother at such a small, new, local con as this one was. I was hunting down :devXNeverConform: and trying to call her over and over hoping she was allright. We finally found eachother. I was clung to. All of my friends were crying and I was going around comforting each and every one of them I could find.

Everyone had to go home. Leave. ASAP. No one was to be allowed anywhere near the hotel unless you were staying in it and those people had to go straight to their rooms and were not allowed to leave it.

Last night was chaos. A horrible ordeal of which a con should never ever have to go through nor experience. I've been going to conventions for five years now and never, in all that time, have I ever seen something like this happen.

I suppose up to now, you're all curious what happened, right? Well. It went something like this. The dance at our ANIME convention was advertised as a rave. A full-out rave. You had to be ID'd for it. The playlist was nothing at all relevant to the atmosphere of an anime convention. This /rave/ was spread by word of mouth, groups and forums, and was even listed on [link]. Basically, it reached the ears of the wrong crowd; Outside the con scene and entered the raver scene. A scene of which the majority had little to no interest in anime or anything an anime convention is supposed targeted towards.

They all showed up to attend this 'rave' that should not have been called as such at all. Ravers from outside the city had even shown up to come to this only to show up finding nothing. I didn't sleep till about 5.30am last night, and ravers, not anime-kids, kept showing up throughout the night expecting to party and shit long after the con was shut down.

I realized I've been avoiding your curiosity, but if it hasn't been clear yet, well, getting to the point...

SOME DOUCHEBAG, RAVER-KID OR ANIME-KID, HAD LACED THE WATER JUGS AT COAT CHECK AND OUTSIDE THE ROOM WHERE THE 'RAVE' WAS HELD IN WITH ACID AND E.

Sick joke? A dare? Wanting to fuck around with 'those freaks'? Whatever the reason, whoever did it, I hope the worst of the worst happens to them. It was cruel. It wasn't nice. The people who were affected by the laced water were people who have never done any such things. Have zero tolerance. All sent to the fucking /CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL/

What pissed me off so much were the raver-kids showing up as all this drama was unfolding. They just stood at the side seemingly entertained by all that was happening while the rest of us, the ones who were at this hotel for a reason, were crying and worried watching their affected friends being put onto gurneys and into ambulances.

What bothered me alot were those raver kids complaining that the rave was a no-go anymore and had the fucking /nerve/ to come up to us anime-kids asking us if we had drugs and just.. UGH.

I've never felt anything like I did last night.
Stress. Anger. Worry. Sadness. Pressure and several other emotions I can't think of right now I've cried last night up until awhile ago. I'm slowly. getting over it but I'm sure it'll hit me later tonight or tomorrow.

I've slept 5 hours since early Friday morning and have barely eaten much over the course of the weekend. It was Thanksgiving today and I couldn't even enjoy the meal and eat much of it because of this bullshit of last night. So I am also quite famished along with my fatigue <-- I'd rant more of this issue if I wasn't feeling quite like this. Therefore, I will end this rant thing.

ALSO. BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL LIKE WRITING ALOT ANYMORE (ranting that is), I WANT THIS MESSAGE TO BE SHARED TO EVERYONE, BY EVERYONE, WITHIN THE ANIME CON SCENE: PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR INCLUDE THE WORD 'RAVE' WITHIN THE TITLE OF A DANCE AT AN ANIME CONVENTION.

It was a cruel thing to do such a thing as that and I would like this to never happen again at future anime cons. Ever.


.... I could not even enjoy Sunday because I was just so bummed the entire day and so was everyone else at the con who were there at the incident. There was just to much awkward tension at the con. It could have just been me but it was something that I could not just let go. You could tell in the faces of the people who were brought down by this terrible event. Who was there when it happened.

I must shout out to the amazing con staff and security who were pressured by both the hotel and authorities and still pulled through for Sunday -Oh ya. Forgot to mention. The hotel manager decided to let us continue our con because he trusted us, wanted to trust and believe in us, and that it was not us who spawned this vindictive intention but the random ravers who showed up for it.

I shout out to all my friends of whom I send ALL OF MY love to that they get well. That they are all okay and pulling through. I love you guys so much and I may not be as close to some of you as others but you're all still friends to me and I wish for this to never happen again. We're all lucky that, as bad as things were during the intense con drama, it didn't get any of worse than it did.

I have nothing more to say now. My brain is functioning less and less... So, I will now prepare for a long overdue rest.
